WHO WE ARE
Predator Detection and Deterrence is an initiative launched by Petros Chrysafis to help tackle human-wildlife conflict in a non-lethal way. We focus on California's Central Valley and the surrounding mountain ranges.
ACTIVITIES
Predator Detection and Deterrence revolves around providing educational outreach, teaching workshops on non-lethal predator deterrence measures and working with various stakeholders to ensure livestock and predator coexistence.
EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH
We provide outreach to various stakeholder groups interested in predator detection, deterrence, and coexistence. The outreach can be tailored to specific interests exhibited by stakeholders. The aim of outreach is to empower humans living with predators and provide alternative routes to coexistence that do not revolve around lethal measures.
WORKSHOPS
Human-wildlife conflict can often be mitigated with the right knowledge in hand. Our workshops aim to teach stakeholders how to monitor predator presence as well as establish a list of deterrents that can prevent conflicts such as livestock predation or predator encounters.
NON-LETHAL DETERRENTS
We aim to provide stakeholders with the right tools and solutions to deter predators and maintain a healthy coexistence. This usually entails a visit to the site, monitoring using trail cameras and then establishing deterrents. We aim to provide long term support and create sustainable relationships.
